Mr. William “Bill” Engelman founded Engelman Electric in Woodburn, OR around 1967.
While performing all the work himself, Bill started out as the sole proprietor doing mainly agricultural and residential wiring. With the ever increasing demand of new construction Bill was able to hire another electrician after about a year and was instrumental in the core beliefs that still hold today.
Bill had a commitment to remain a small company in the electrical construction industry to work more closely with his clients and better serve their electrical needs.
In 1981, Bill relocated to Hubbard, OR and purchased the old Hubbard Fire Hall, where we are still located today.
Experiencing the need for qualified help and better training for future electricians, in 1978 Bill was instrumental in establishing the Independent Electrical Contractors of Oregon Association and the apprenticeship program (www.iecoregon.org/about.asp) that today continues to educate future electricians and is the sole voice for open merit shop contractors.
In 1993, three existing employees, Daniel Dummer, Mark Holum and Kristina Nichols purchased the business from Bill. In 1995, Ron Thunderbird became the fourth owner. The company has remained family owned since Bill’s retirement in 1998 and is still an active member of IECO.
Engelman Electric gradually grew to 7 employees and has a strong commitment to remain a small shop dedicated to our client’s electrical needs.
Our three electrical supervisors Dan, Mark, and Ron, were all trained under the direct supervision of Mr. Bill Engelman. Bill’s dedication to the electrical trade and pride in quality of work has been instilled in us and continues today. We at Engelman Electric always stand behind our work. No job is too small and we are ready to help you with all your electrical needs.
